Happy new year everyone. I hope you had a lovely break over the Christmas period and managed, at least for a while, to forget the strange world we’re living in.

Along with everyone, Savile Row tailors are again enduring another full lock down here in the UK. Certainly not much fun but we just have to do the right thing and make the best of it. Thank you to everyone who dropped me a note for the made to measure suit on my last post. I’m delighted that so many people appreciate what we do and are keen to take ownership for themselves or someone dear to them. We’ve picked a winner but we’ll be posting up a few more examples that are looking for a loving home, so don’t be too disappointed if you weren’t lucky this time.

(Rare tweeds)

In the video above I share a little goldmine that we at had the good fortune to come across at Redmayne. We have some beautiful vintage, hand woven Harris tweeds. Tweeds certainly seem popular at the moment and quite honestly, it’s not hard to see why. It’s something very special, unique and extremely practical in designs that are simply timeless. We have a client who brought us a personal collection which belonged to their family. They purchased the cloth over 50 years ago on various family camper trips to the islands of Scotland. These cloths are hard to resist (as they found out) and they ended up picking up a couple of lengths every summer holiday. Of course they always promised themselves to get them made…but luckily for you, they never got round to it.

(Whats not to like)

If you watch the video below I show you a few examples of these exclusive tweeds and the exciting moment my youngest son pulled the suit winner out of a hat. Congratulations to Gustav of Sweden, we’re delighted for you. We couldn’t think of a better country for a three piece, English 12oz worsted flannel to reside. I hope it gives you many years of pleasure and good fortune.

(And the winner is…)

As we’re approaching Burns night I hope this has inspired you to get something Scottish, rare and wonderful in your wardrobe. If you’re interested in having a coat made then drop Redmayne a note and they’ll give you more details. There’s only a dozen or so coat lengths and they’re all superb, hand woven vintage quality. The sample I showed you is made using our made to measure service and we can make you a lovely coat from these rare tweeds, starting at £795 including UK VAT. Extremely good value for something so special. If you’re not already a client and you’d like to own one of these lovely coats, then consider the Redmayne suit copying service. Wherever you’re based you can get one of these cracking tweeds made for you and in your wardrobe. Your grandchildren will thank you!

That’s it for now and well done Gustav.

PS : Since writing. Redmayne received this review on Google.

We were so pleased when Tom Mahon agreed to make a sports jacket using the vintage Harris Tweed purchased by my husbands mother many years ago.
The individual attention we received on our visits to the shop made us feel quite special. Tom explained how the coat would be constructed and advised on choices for every detail. The whole process was most enjoyable.
We are delighted with the result. The coat looks and feels great, and will only get better with wear. It will be a friend for many years. Mother would have been tickled pink!Like
